(Children in the 7th and 8th grades)
Children are required to go through the confirmation program which includes expanding their knowledge of the great themes and stories of the Bible as well as a knowledgeable command of the Small Catechism. Generally, the 7th grade class concentrates on Bible knowledge and the 8th grade class concentrates on the doctrine of the church as explained in the Small Catechism. At the end of the course of instruction, the 8th graders will be questioned by the Elders of the church to determine their command of the subject matter. With the approval of the Elders, the 8th grade confirmation students are confirmed on the first Sunday in May. Once confirmed, the student is expected to:
Establish a regular worship pattern during confirmation instruction period.
Sign a “Four-Fold Expectations of Members” commitment form.
Take steps to get connected to one or more of the different groups and activities that are offered.
Prayerfully consider making a stewardship pledge to the church… General and building.
Variation to this procedure will be at the discretion of the Pastor and the Board of Elders.
