Adults
Those desiring membership in St. John’s are expected to:
- Successfully complete a membership class.
- Establish a regular worship pattern for at least three months. (at least half of the Sundays during this period)
- Sign a “Four-Fold Expectations of Members” commitment form.
- Take steps to get connected with St. John’s in one or more of the different groups and activities that are offered.
- Prayerfully consider making stewardship pledges to the Church…..general and building funds
Once these conditions are met, the elders will inform the voters assembly and the Rite of Adult Confirmation will be scheduled in a worship service.
Membership classes are scheduled quarterly.
Variation to this procedure will be at the discretion of the Pastor and the Board of Elders.
Jr. Confirmation
Once a Youth enters 6th Grade they are eligible to begin our Jr. Confirmation program. Our program consists of 10 different modules or units that they may take in any order. The modules generally contain four sessions and attendance at each session of a module is required. The modules are: The Old Testament, The New Testament, The Ten Commandments, The Apostles’ Creed, Baptism, The Lord’s Prayer, Lord’s Supper/Confession and Absolution, Mission and Ministry, Practices of the Christian Faith, and Worship. In addition to the modules, the youth will be active in worship both through their attendance and through service.
When they have completed these requirements, they are able to participate in activities that lead to Confirmation. Once confirmed, the confirmand is expected to:
· Continue their regular worship pattern which they developed during the confirmation instruction period.
· Sign a “Four-Fold Expectations of Members” commitment form.
· Take steps to get connected to one or more of the different groups and activities that are offered.
· Prayerfully consider making a stewardship pledge to the church… General and building.
